Stay Healthy....Breathe More Easily

adapted from the Dallas Morning News 2011

1.  Add lime to your water. Lime contains more bioflavonoids--natural antihistamines that can help relive allergy symptoms---than any other citrus, says Dr. Carolyn Dean of the Nutritional Magnesium Association.

2.  Use a pinch of petroleum. Dabbing a small amount of petroleum jelly just inside the opening of your nostrils can help catch pollen before it enters your nasal passages, says Dr David Rosenstreich, director of the allergy and immunology division at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City.

3.  Eat more salmon. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish and fish oil have anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce itchiness and swelling, says Dr Rosenstreich.

4.  Up your magnesium intake. Research has found that this mineral relaxes airways, which helps ease congestion, says Loch Chandler, a naturopathic physician at the Providence Integrative Medicine Clinic in Portland, OR.
